Ahh, the flowers are singing, the toadstools are dancing, the grass is playing the banjo... I should cut down on the drugs, eh?

Wily's Metal Castle

"Hmm, good, but.."

date: March 3, 2009

To me, it seems to lack "impact", if you know what I mean. Check out Metaljonus's stuff, particular his remixes of the sonic 2 boss and final boss themes. That has a certain quality to it that makes it seem a little better to me. I'm not sure whether it's down to the program you use, though. If I knew, I'd be making these kind of things, not reviewing them, heh. 0:12 to 0:30 did seem to have that impactive quality
to some degree, though.

Apart from that, though, it's great! 8/10, because I whilst it is good, I think it can be built upon.

Rayquaza Battle Theme

"I like."

date: March 3, 2009

You've managed to capture a different feeling than the original with this mix. If you've ever heard Dialga/Palkia's theme, you might know what I mean when I say this seems more Palkia-esque than it does Rayquaza-esque. Not to say that's a bad thing ^_^

Anyway, in general I like it. Not much else I can say. Good work!

I heard the new dialga/palkia theme. I didn't like it. I just... I dunno. It didn't suit me well.

Booster's Train Lounge

"Hahaha, I think this is brilliant!"

date: February 25, 2009

Allow me to explain.

Whether or not it was intentional, you've done something great here. You've created a tune with fantastic imagery. The picture of a medical waiting room with a crazy Booster surgeon - or any other kind of waiting room, plus Booster - is clear in my head. The fan on the ceiling spinning slowly and softly, the delicate flick of magazine pages... I can see this all in my mind, as a result of this music.

Bravo!

Molgera-Zelda: Wind Waker

"Righto, to refute CannibalLollypop..."

date: February 25, 2009

I've gone to the liberty of checking the file which the reviewer below me claimed that this was copied off. After comparing them, I can say that this one is different (noticably more MP3-ish). Similar, but different. It wouldn't surprised me if this is based off the midi though. Also, rather frivalous use of the term "Copyright Infringement", bud. Should I understand VGmusic's ToS, then I'd have to say that the music on the site is free for any kind of use. Even if they had a policy against such a thing, it would still be WAY off copyright.

Err, anyway, back to this review. I like it. Nice and soft, like the original. The usual jazz here, good choice of instruments etc. It's not outstanding though - good, but not amazing. The organish-thing in the second half didn't sound right when it first came in, though. Perhaps you could work on that?

8/10, 4/5, good job :D

The Nintendo Concerto (Part 7)

"My brain just imploded!"

date: February 23, 2009

Better take this off newgrounds fast, before it causes an awesomeness overload!

Excellently done, that's all I can say. I'm a lover of piano. And a lover of video game music, particularly Nintendo. You, my good sir, are like Mario and Luigi RPG 3 to a hardcore Bowser fan. Yes, an envoy from heaven!

... Now I'm just rambling. I didn't recognise everything, because I probably haven't played everything. But all of it sounded wonderful. I'm dumbstruck. Amazed. Your selection of tunes is amazing in itself, and the way you've done it... Was.. Was....

-cries of joy, nostalgia and bliss-

You, my good sir, you are a gift to this world. Keep it up!

10/10, 5/5 and an E-hug.

"The memories!"

They burn like a million peppers!

But, well done, I say. I must admit I had to put a little bit of effort into regocnising it at first; but it got better quickly. You've also done well in giving it an incredibly tranquil feel.

Paper Mario - Tutankoopa

"I kinda like it, but..."

date: February 23, 2009

... it happens to have something that I regard as a critical flaw.

You see, Paper Mario music was characterised by having an array of noises. Listen to any PM 1, 2 or SPM boss track, and you'll see what I mean. You included the "ooh-ah" noise (kind of like a donkey barking?) which is the kind of thing the original had, but I don't feel it was used the right way. I much prefer the original's arrangement.

February 24, 2009

Author's Response:

Yeah, I get where you're coming from. When I was making this I was going for an original sound that was very different from the original arrangement. I know that Paper Mario songs generally have many different sounds and have some energy, and I'll go for that in my later songs while still giving them a little twist.

Thanks for the review.

Enough of my Culex ramblings.

Nice remix; it's softer than others, which is good. You've chosen a good array of instruments; they go well together to create a certain feel. My mind jumped to Culex because this mix seems to suit him more than it does FF4 ^_^

Of course, that's just my opinion. Not much else to say, but well done, my good sir. 8/10 and 4/5 for you!

KR- Mario 64 dire docks remix

"Another brilliant piece!"

date: January 16, 2009

See, I think you've done well here by making the lead instrument a heavy, sharp raspy sound without actually throwing the song off. ESPECIALLY considering that the original uses such a soft sound. It also sounds nice, and I like how you added instruments over time. The piano in the second half seems to be drowned out though. I can only hear it occasionally. I'm no musician, so I can't really offer any advice, but hey, great work!

February 2, 2009

Author's Response:

Wow, thanks.
I'm kinda ashamed of this myself, but it's great to see that someone actually likes it alot.

KR- Sonic 3 final boss

"Love it."

date: January 16, 2009

You did this BEAUTIFULLY. The selection of instruments was superb. And, fortunately, this song seems to lend itself to such an arrangement. Really, everything about this is fantastic.

.... Except that ending. That was kinda pigged, heh.

Keep making these excellent remixes!
